In 2010, the Rougeuxs founded the Purple Feet Foundation, LLC (PFF) to honor the memory of their stillborn daughter, Grace. They transformed their grief into a mission to help and inspire young adolescents. As lifelong educators, Lance and Martha developed programs designed to help high-risk children expand their expectations, discover what is possible, and develop lasting friendships.

One of PFF’s programs is thinc, a free, weeklong residential experience for students entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. According to the organization, the “c” in thinc represents areas the program encourages students to explore, including careers, character, confidence, compassion, choices, college, connection, creativity, communication, and collaboration. At its heart, thinc helps young people “c” that they have choices—and that they can shape their own futures.

Students attend the program at Villanova University, where they engage in activities and discussions focused on personal growth, education, career exploration, and community engagement. During this year’s program, students had the opportunity to participate in sessions covering a variety of subjects, including artificial intelligence, business, construction, the arts, moviemaking, journalism, Cricut design, fishing, nursing, dance, culinary arts, and sewing. These experiences are intended to introduce participants to new areas of interest and learning.

Sheets Smith Wealth Management advisor Phu Roy O and his daughter, Elsie, experienced that mission firsthand, serving as camp counselors for thinc in both 2025 and 2026.

We are pleased to share the story of Lance and Martha Rougeux and their involvement with the Purple Feet Foundation. Through the Foundation’s programs, they have worked to provide young people with opportunities for personal growth, learning, and exploration.
